Dance

In the Dysart Unified School District, our dance program curriculum is designed to engage students in the collaborative creative process, exposure to multifaceted dance techniques, gain an understanding of the aesthetics and approaches to performing, and integrate an understanding of cultural context with the artform.  Students will study the development of movement quality and performance skills with an emphasis on alignment, control, awareness of style, and phrasing in dance.

Beginning Dance 1-2

Offered: 9-12 Grade

All High Schools


Students will study dance techniques and the development of movement quality and performance skills. Concepts of dance history, production, and improvisational techniques, will also be explored.  


Dance Performance and Composition 

Offered: 9-12 Grade

All High Schools


Students will learn forms of dance and physical conditioning. Students will continue to develop and explore movement quality, performance skills, and advanced concepts of choreography.

Dance  

Offered: 7-8

Middle Schools Only


Students will study dance techniques and the development of movement quality and performance skills. Concepts of dance history, production, and improvisational techniques, will also be explored. Dance is a performing ensemble and will participate in concerts, school events, and festivals. Schools may require an audition to be placed in this course.
