Learning about Sound
Mrs. Deffinbaugh's class has been learning about sound. We are experiencing sounds, making connections between sounds and the source of the sounds and differentiating between loud and quiet sounds.
We had to use our listening skills to hear spring sounds and try to guess what made the sound. We really liked the nature sounds!
Butterfly Time!
The students were busy making observations on Day 1 of our catapillars.
They are excited to watch them grow.
Caterpillar Progression
Preschool received caterpillar's learn about last week so students have been exploring using magnifying glasses and collaborating on what will happen next with the caterpillars.
Western Peaks Performs at the Festival of the Arts
Our Western Peaks Falcon Choir had a wonderful time performing at the Dysart Festival of the Arts this past Saturday! Our talented students proudly represented Western Peaks as they shared their music alongside many other incredible young artists from across the district. The festival celebrates the visual and performing arts with performances from choirs, bands, dance groups, and more throughout the day. We are so proud of our Falcon Singers for their hard work, enthusiasm, and beautiful performance. Thank you to our families and community members who came out to support the arts!
Field Day 2026

Fun Run 2026
Western Peak's PTSA held its annual Boosterthon Fun Run on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. All grades participated, with many ways of running! Click here to see additional pictures!
Cat in the Hat-Spirit Week
In recognition of Read Across America Week, Western Peaks is celebrating with Spirit Week. Monday was Cat in the Hat day, and as you can see our Preschool class was in full spirit!
Preschool Storytelling
Preschool is diving int the magic of storytelling. They've been bringing Goldilocks and the Three Bears and The Three Little Pigs to life by acting out the stories, using their voices, expressions and BIG imaginations!
Pretty in Pink
As part of Western Peak's Valentine Spirit Week, students and staff had a pink and red day. Here you see some of the students and staff dressed in pink!
4th Grade Testing Tips
Students in 4th grade are in the final stretch before AASA testing and are busy learning test prep tips and strategies to be successful when they take the state test in April. They are working hard at ensuring mastery in ELA and math by eliminating answers, referring to the text, and reading each question carefully as they focus and use their time wisely during these next several weeks.
Twinning Heart Glasses!
This week Western Peaks is celebrating Valentines with Spirit Week. Mrs. Kelley's class in recognition of Twin Day some of her students wore heart glasses. Can you SEE Valentines in their lens?!
PTSA Book Fair
Last week our very own Officer Jones helped to sell books at the PTSA Book Fair by posing with one of the books.
PTSA Donuts with Grown Ups
What goes better with donuts? Not coffee, tea, or milk, but Grown Ups! Western Peak's parents and students were treated to donuts sponsored by our very own PTSA!

It’s Time to Complete the Annual Parent Survey!
Please remember to complete our annual Parent Survey if you haven’t already done so. We want to know what our district and school are doing well and how we can improve in the future. Ground Hog Day
This week, our first graders learned about Groundhog Day! We explored the traditions behind this fun winter holiday, learned what a groundhog is, and made predictions about whether we think spring will come early or winter will stick around a little longer.
100th Day
Western Peaks Preschool marked its 100th day by students and staff dressing as what they think a 100 year old person would look. Looks like they did a pretty good job!
Falcon Wing Winners
Western Peaks students have an opportunity each month to win a monthly prize of having a treat with the school principal, Mrs. S. Brown. (Sponsored by the PTSA) Pictured here is just a few of the December monthly Falcon Wing Winners!
Letter Formation
Fun Friday = learning through play! Students in Ms. Cline’s STC class practiced letter formation and early reading skills by copying CVC words from the board and writing them in shaving cream. This multisensory activity supports reading simple words while building fine motor skills and engagement. Messy learning is meaningful learning! Click here to see more pictures.
Patterns of the Sun
Our 2nd graders turned into scientists today! During a hands-on investigation, students traced their shadows throughout the day to observe how they change. They discovered patterns and learned how the sun’s position in the sky affects the length and direction of shadows. Curious minds at work! Click here for more pictures.
