OVERVIEW

Dysart High School truly values the skills, passion, and perspective that art provides to our students. We offer visual arts (painting, drawing, and ceramics) and performing arts (band and theater). We now have six 2D arts classes, and have increased the number of Art Seal recipients, having at least one in each of our Arts programs.

Guitar

This is a course for beginning students with no previous experience, as well as for students with minimal experience on the guitar. An acoustic guitar is provided, and neither electric guitars nor amps will be allowed. Students will learn to read music, learn basic chords, finger picking, and will perform in a guitar ensemble.

Piano

In piano, students will learn to read music, compose simple songs, chord progressions, ensemble music, and a wide range of musical genres. A keyboard is provided for use during class. Students will be expected to perform for the teacher, as well as in a public setting for the class, as it is a performance based class. A concert performance will be given at the end of the year.
