OVERVIEW

El Mirage is a Preschool through 4th grade elementary school in the Dysart Unified School District. Originally opened in 1958. The building was redone in 2004. El Mirage is the second oldest school in the Dysart District. Our vision is to empower our students, staff, and community to build strong healthy minds and bodies. Our signature focus, the Health and Wellness Academy, ensures that the physical, emotional, and intellectual needs of all our students are met.

We recognize the importance of academically preparing our students for college and careers, while teaching the skills necessary to become well-rounded, healthy individuals. Through health and wellness experiences, college preparation, and physical fitness, students will achieve their full potential and learn life-long skills for success.

El Mirage Elementary is a community of families who have gone to our school for generations. It is located near Gentry Park, off of Thunderbird and North El Mirage Rd, within close proximity to the 60.

We believe in the Dysart Unified School District Mission: to create a safe, diversified and engaging learning environment where every student attains academic excellence and is empowered to achieve life-long success. Through relevant and challenging curriculum, expanded learning opportunities and collaborative partnerships, our students will be: effective communicators; critical and creative thinkers; informed problem solvers and decision makers; responsible leaders; and productive citizens.

Arts

Building a strong, healthy mind and body includes appreciation for the arts. We believe students should know the fundamentals, while also learning about master artists and musicians, and gaining skills in creating their own art, music, and technology.

2023 Model School

The International Center for Leadership in Education (ICLE), whose mission is to celebrate, inspire, and support today’s K-12 educators, has named El Mirage Elementary School a 2023 Model School for its focus on relationships and rigorous and relevant academics to impact students. The team at El Mirage recognizes opportunities for growth, fosters a strong culture, and holds high expectations for all students.

El Mirage is one of 30 Model Schools from across the United States that will share best practices at ICLE’s 31st Annual Model Schools Conference. The event provides the inspiration thousands of passionate teachers and leaders need to validate and affirm the great work they do, and to challenge them to share replicable and creative strategies that can produce results in any school.
