OVERVIEW

Kingswood’s art programming has grown in recent years and strives to offer an integral creative outlet to its students. Fostering art has contributed to our school culture and continues to build connections with our families and community.

This year our students’ work flourished and was displayed not only within our school walls, but at the District Office, as well as Dysart’s Art Festival, with all grades; K-8 being represented. Eighth and sixth grade students also represented Kingswood at the festival’s outdoor chalk art display. In addition, we had fifth and sixth grade students enter the Surprise Library Bookmark Contest and the Doodle for Google contest.

This past Thanksgiving our fourth graders worked together to create placemats and centerpieces for our 35 senior neighbors at Kingwood Place. More recently our fifth grade multi-media class made floral centerpieces for our volunteer luncheon. Also, our seventh graders contributed to the Surprise, HQ Art Gallery’s Kindness Community Rock Garden.

Kingswood offers a variety of elective classes to 5-8 graders every year. Among them, our graduating students have the opportunity to enroll in a mural class. This year our class of 2022 chose to create a mural entitled “Knowledge is Beautiful”. They collaborated and came up with the imagery and title all on their own.
