CSMS CTE Visits VVHS Programs
Students from CTE at CSMS were able to visit the fire science and law enforcement programs offered at Valley Vista HS. Our students were able to work hand in hand with the students from Valley to learn about the programs. Our students learned about the equipment and how it's used as well as what the programs can lead to for future career paths.

Congratulations Logan Slater!
Because of the influence of Logan's middle school CTE class and teacher, Logan has decided to attend Dysart High School in the fall to take advantage of their auto mechanics class! Way to go Logan! Dysart High, you are getting a fantastic student!
Read Logan's testimony below:
I'm going to Dysart High School because of the CTE class at Cimarron Springs Middle School. In the CTE class at CSMS, I learned things that I never knew, for example, I learned how to fly a plane, how to wrap a injured hand, and even how to build a lawn mower engine in an hour and a half. I got to present the engine at the elective showcase later that night. The teacher in the CTE class, Mr. Welker taught us so much about the real world! He told me about the automotive class at Dysart High School and how you can walk out of that class with your A.S.E. student certification. That is the reason why I decided to go to Dysart High School to work with cars and work on engines.
)
It's CTE Month!
Students in 8th grade CTE class get to explore different career options by engaging in stations where they practice the skills that are required for each career.

5/6th Grade Zoo Show

Our 5/6th grade students were visited by Fragile Planet which showed the students many animals and discussed their adaptations, habitats, behaviors and special, unique qualities of each animal. Students could interact with the animals and get their pictures taken with them. This aligns with the curriculum as 5th grade is currently studying heredity traits and learned behavior. Sixth grade is learning all about food webs and food chains, abiotic vs biotic systems and how invasive species affect the environment.
Ms. Jones' class creating raised gardens
Students in Ms. Jones' class have been working hard in the school's garden to prepare it for plants! They got to experience the process of painting the garden boxes last week with the help of Mr. M.. This upcoming week, they will be planting vegetables in the boxes to grow and maintain!

American Heart Association teaches CPR
American Heart Association Staff, Karen Flowers and Kristine Downard, visited with our 8th grade science class to teach students about Cardiac Arrest, Heart Attacks, and hands only CPR. Thanks to donations from UMB bank, we will be able to keep all mannequins at Cimarron Springs Middle School so our students will be able to practice hands only CPR each year!

Cimarron Springs celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month
Students, parents, teachers, and community members came together to gather artifacts to help celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at Cimarron Springs Middle School for Mrs. Trujillo’s Spanish class. Items included a variety of food, clothing, and kitchen items with historical value from different Spanish-speaking countries. Students will be researching a figure from Hispanic history and presenting a small biography on them over the next four weeks. On September 24th, students had the opportunity to view and learn about customs and traditions of Spanish-speaking countries through artifacts brought in by Mrs. Trujillo and Lidia Goodman, a former Cimarron teacher and current district volunteer and substitute. Mrs. Goodman shared several artifacts from her upbringing in Sonora, Mexico.
National Hispanic Heritage Month is observed annually from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.
