VVHS Counselor Receives Career Guidance Award
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - 5/17/2021
Valley Vista High School Counselor Heather Webb received the Region V Arizona Career and Technical Education (ACTEAZ) Career Guidance Award at the organization’s annual conference. The award recognizes school counselors who make significant contributions to Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs in his/her communities and/or state. Webb is now eligible for the National ACTE Awards which will be announced at the National ACTE Vision Conference in December.
“Heather is an extraordinary counselor who puts kids first. Her work with CTE, ACTE and ACTEAZ shows that she is willing to extend herself outside the school and grow personally and professionally,” said Jim Grieshaber, Career and Technical Education Director.
Webb was honored for being a true advocate for CTE and for her efforts to provide opportunities for students. Heather coordinates eighth grade CTE program tours, freshman transition visits, and Camp Monsoon, an event where freshman students can experience CTE Programs first hand. Webb is a mentor to CTE colleagues and shares her expertise at region and state CTE conferences on best practices, works as a co-coordinator with ACTEAZ Leadership Fellows, and met with U.S. Congress Representatives in Washington DC regarding CTE.
