Dysart Receives Two Financial Reporting Awards

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - 8/16/2021

Dysart Unified School District has received two awards for meeting high standards on the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2020.

The Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) awarded Dysart Schools with the Certificate of Excellence (COE) in Financial Reporting, indicating that Dysart meets high standards for financial reporting and transparency. Additionally, the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) awarded Dysart with a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. This is the 26th consecutive year Dysart has received the ASBO award, and 17th consecutive year that Dysart has achieved the GFOA awards.

“This award reflects the Dysart Unified School District’s commitment to financial transparency,” said Superintendent Dr. Quinn Kellis. “We are honored to serve our community, and dedicated to being good stewards of taxpayer funds.”

The GFOA Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by an organization and its management. In order to be awarded a Certificate of Achievement, an organization must publish an easily readable and efficiently organized Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. This report must satisfy both generally accepted accounting principles and applicable legal requirements.  By participating in the ASBO COE program, school districts demonstrate their commitment to financial transparency and excellence in financial reporting. The CAFR must inform stakeholders about the financial and economic state of the district, and be a communications tool to engage with the community.

The awards were presented to the Dysart Unified School District Governing Board at the August 11 board meeting. Dysart budget and financial reports may be viewed at Dysart.org/Budget.
