DUSD Board Enters Superintendent Contract Negotiations
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - 10/7/22
DYSART SCHOOLS - The Dysart Unified School District Governing Board voted 5-0 on October 6, 2022 to enter into contract negotiations with Dr. Jim Dean to serve as the next Dysart Schools superintendent.
Dr. Jim Dean has been serving in the Acting Superintendent role for Dysart Schools since May, 2022. Dean holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Acacia University, Masters in Educational Leadership from University of Phoenix and a Bachelors in Elementary Education from Grand Canyon University. He has been with Dysart since 2005, previously serving as a Principal, Director of Public Relations, Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources and Assistant Superintendent for Support Services.
The Governing Board began the national search in July, 2022, which produced seven applicants. In August, the Board requested feedback from the community, parents, students, and staff regarding characteristics they desire in a new superintendent, for use in the selection process. Three finalists were invited to participate in interviews with the Governing Board and a panel of constituents on September 22, 2022. The Board met privately in Executive Session during the October 6, 2022 board meeting to discuss the finalists, and announced their decision when the regular meeting resumed. Pending upcoming contract negotiations, the Governing Board is expected to officially approve Dr. Jim Dean as the next superintendent. A search timeline and details can be viewed on the district website at Dysart.org/SuperSearch.
