Four Dysart Schools Named Best High Schools by U.S. News & World Report

DYSART SCHOOLS - All four of Dysart Unified School District’s high schools have been named 2026-2027 Best High Schools by U.S. News & World Report based on earning high national and local rankings. This includes Dysart High School (DHS), Shadow Ridge High School (SRHS), Valley Vista High School (VVHS), and Willow Canyon High School (WCHS).

“Dysart is proud that our schools rank so well among other districts,” said Dr. John Croteau. “This designation truly illustrates the academic successes we see from our students every day. Our schools and staff work extremely hard to educate students, and provide the support they need in order to be successful.”

Selected schools surpass anticipated benchmarks, have high graduation rates, and students who achieve high scores on state assessments for math, reading and science. College readiness through performance on Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate exams is also taken into account as well as how underserved students perform.

Dysart schools have repeatedly earned Best High Schools accolades over the years, complementing their other academic achievements.  All four high schools are also “A” rated by the State of Arizona, and each offers numerous honors, Advanced Placement and dual enrollment credits, which allow students to get a head start on college credits while in high school.  Career and Technical Education (CTE) opportunities are abundant as well for those with specific interests to get hands-on training in various fields. Three high schools (DHS, VVHS, SRHS) have also been named Purple Star Schools for the support they have in place for military-connected students. Dysart serves over 8,000 students across its four high school campuses.
