DEF scholarships available

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — 1/15/2020

 The Dysart Education Foundation (DEF) is pleased to announce the college scholarship application is open now through March 15, 2020. Graduating seniors from Dysart, Shadow Ridge, Valley Vista and Willow Canyon High Schools are invited to apply. Eleven scholarships in excess of $50,000 are made possible through private donations, business sponsors, alumni organizations and community support through DEF events and campaigns.

  • DEF Scholarship - $6,000 (One student will be selected from each of the four Dysart Unified School District High Schools) 
  • Grand Opportunity Scholarship - $5,000 (Female, 2-year community college) 
  • Dr. Gail Pletnick Education Award - $3,000 (2-year scholarship towards teaching degree) 
  • Southwest Foodservice Excellence Scholarship - $2,000 
  • CORE Scholarship - $2,000 
  • McCarthy Scholarship - $2,000 
  • Dysart High School Alumni (various award denominations available for Dysart High School students) 
  • Richard and Elsie Valentine Memorial Scholarship - $1,500 (Valley Vista High School students)

Each applicant need only submit one application. The DEF scholarship committee will then determine which applicants meet the criteria for each scholarship. Completed applications must be emailed or postmarked by March 15, 2020. Winners will be notified in early April and invited along with their parents and guardians to receive their award at the annual DEF Awards Dinner on Thursday, April 23, 2020.
