Dysart Graduation Ceremonies Cancelled Due to Health Concerns
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — 6/22/2020
The Dysart Unified School District regretfully announces that the in-person graduation ceremony, originally planned for June 30, is now cancelled. It was determined that holding an in-person ceremony, even with added health and safety precautions and social distancing, would not be in the best interest of our students, families, staff and general public. Additionally, with the added emergency declarations within each city and county, and extra precautions and attendance limitations by State Farm Stadium, we did not feel that the ceremony would truly provide the celebratory atmosphere that our graduates deserve.
Dysart is still determined to celebrate and honor each and every 2020 graduate, and each school will be holding a drive-through celebration on June 30 where students will receive their diplomas. Students, parents and guardians will receive further details about these alternative plans from their school very soon. Additionally, we will be releasing a virtual graduation ceremony video for each high school at 11:00 a.m. on June 29.
Safety is our top priority, and we have the social responsibility to avoid holding gatherings of this magnitude at this time. We have heavy hearts about this decision, but we know it is in the best interest of our students, families, staff and the larger community.
The Dysart Unified School District wishes the Class of 2020 the very best. We are honored to have had the opportunity to educate each and every Dysart graduate.
