Dysart to Offer Three School Options for 20-21

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — 7/6/2020

Dysart Unified School District is proud to offer three school options to parents for the 20-21 school year:

  • Full-time Classroom (K-12) - Classes will take place on the campus for this in-person option, and will incorporate health, safety and social distancing protocols, where feasible. Note: This option will begin with remote learning on August 4 and transition to full-time in-person classes, when allowable.
  • Full-time Online through Dysart iSchool (K-12) - Students will take online classes through Dysart iSchool, a fully-accredited learning platform. Chromebook laptops may be checked-out, as needed.
  • Split-time Hybrid (K-8 only) - This option combines in-person and remote education and will have fewer students in the classroom. Students will be taking classes in-person two days a week, and remote learning two days a week. Mondays will be reserved for teachers to provide additional assistance. Chromebook laptops may be checked-out, as needed. Note: The availability of this option is dependent on sufficient numbers of students selecting this option in each grade level at each school. It will begin with remote learning only on August 4 and transition to splitting in-person and remote learning, when allowable.

Parents are asked to consider the three options and make a selection of their choice for each student through the Parent Portal from July 8-15, so that the district can appropriately plan for staffing needs. All school models will begin with remote learning on August 4 and families that select to attend an in-person option will transition to campus when it is allowable by Governor Ducey.

It is important to note that although the start of the school year will begin with remote learning for all students, it will look very different from the emergency remote learning that took place at the end of last school year. Remote learning during this initial transition period will take place virtually during regular school day hours, using Schoology, and laptops will be available for check-out, if needed. Teachers will teach during regular school hours from their classroom, and use a consistent learning platform in each school model this year, so that at any point during the school year, students and teachers will be able to seamlessly transition back to remote learning, should school closures become necessary again.

Dysart is proud to provide a high-quality education to our community and is excited to welcome our students back to school remotely on Tuesday, August 4. The most current details about the various options and health and safety protocols being implemented can be found at Dysart.org/BackToSchool.
