A-F School Letter Grades

Arizona Revised Statutes § 15-241 requires the Arizona Department of Education, subject to final adoption by the State Board of Education, to develop an annual achievement profile for every public school in the state based on an A through F scale. The system measures year to year student academic growth, proficiency on English language arts, math and science, the proficiency and academic growth of English language learners, indicators that an elementary student is ready for success in high school and that high school students are ready to succeed in a career or higher education and high school graduation rates. 

The Dysart Unified School District was named an “A” rated district in the 2024 state accountability labels for the second year in a row. Within the district, 100% of Dysart’s schools earned an “A” or “B” rating, with 18 schools achieving an “A,” and 6 schools earning a “B.” Dysart had zero “C,” “D,” or “F” schools.  

“Once again Dysart has earned the state’s top rating, which illustrates the high quality education we provide the students in our community, and the tremendous growth reflected in their work,” said Superintendent Dr. John Croteau. “It is an honor for us to receive an ‘A’ rating, and it shows the importance and value of the diligent work that our staff does each and every day to educate our students.”

Dysart had zero "C," “D” or “F” schools. 

• 100% of Dysart schools are “A” or “B” rated 
• 100% of district high schools have an "A" rating 
• Dysart had zero “C,” “D,” or “F” schools for the first time in district history 
• Freedom Traditional Academy scored 7th highest in the state, and Canyon Ridge ranked 20th among all K-8 schools 
• Shadow Ridge High School was ranked #29 among all high schools in the state 
• All Dysart high schools ranked in the top 80 across the state, among 234 high schools 
• Five Dysart schools scored in the top 10% of the state, including Canyon Ridge, Cimarron Springs, Freedom Traditional, Marley Park, and Western Peaks, and another four are in the top 20% (Kingswood, Luke, Mountain View, and Shadow Ridge)
• Top 8 elementary schools in Surprise and El Mirage are Dysart schools
• Only 2 local K-8 charter schools are A-rated, compared to 14 Dysart K-8 schools
