Carnival/Festival Rides - Attractions Not Allowed & Dunk Tank Recommendations
School support groups and the staff member/s planning the event will need to work through their school's principal or district administrator for approval of attraction/s for a district sponsored event.
Student clubs, parent support organizations, boosters and other district entities planning fund-raising events, carnivals/festivals need to be aware of attractions not allowed based upon guidelines/recommendations from the Arizona Schools Risk Retention Trust, the districts' property, liability and casualty trust provider. Attractions not allowed are in place for the safety of our students, staff and community members.
The school principal or district administrator responsible for the event will need to email your request and attraction details to Risk Management for cabinet review and approval.
Adult supervision is required for ALL events. Students may not supervise any activity or attraction at the event.
Below are attractions not allowed and/or excluded under the trust for coverage, items not allowed by the district and recommendations for dunk tanks.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR DUNK TANKS FOR DYSART SPONSORED EVENTS
- DUNK TANKS
- Dunk tanks - Only manufactured dunk tanks should be used (no homemade dunk tanks).
- The dunk tank vendor must provide a copy of the signed agreement and their certificate of insurance prior to the event.
- The Trust's loss control recommendations for dunk tanks:
- All people being dunked should be able to swim
- Only one person in the dunk tank at a time
- The person being dunked should not be a student or child
- It should be set up to where if the tank leaks, or due to splashing, it will not enter a building or create a slip hazard
- If electrical power is required, the power cord needs to be in good repair (including a ground prong) and plugged into a GFCI protected outlet
- Make sure there are no electrical exposures
- A rescue or supervisor should be in the immediate area and that person should also know how to swim
- It should be situated so the item being thrown to activate the dunk tank does not damage anything (i.e., windows, other participants, bystanders, or other activities)
- Follow the manufacturer's guidelines on filling the tank, operation of equipment, and water changes (if necessary)
As indicated above, these recommendations are in place for the safety of our students, staff and community members.
Remember: Adult supervision is required for ALL events! Students may not supervise any activity or attraction at the event.
