Academics
Students are referred to attend Sundown Mountain Alternative Program by their home school counselor.
Students at Sundown Mountain receive core class instruction including Math, English, Social Studies and Science by highly qualified teachers in their subject area
Elective credits are offered in an online lab setting and are self-paced to allow students to earn multiple credits in a short period of time. Student also have the ability to earn credit through the work study program and an elective credit by participating in Town Hall, a student leadership group on campus.
Every quarter, students earn a half credit in their courses and Sundown's calendar is slightly different than the home school as a result.
Graduation Requirements
English - 4 credits
(English 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8)
Math - 4 credits
(Algebra 1-2, Geometry 1-2, Algebra 3-4 and one additional math course)
Science - 3 credits
Social Studies - 3 credits
(World History, U.S./Arizona History 1-2, U.S. & Arizona Government (.5), Economics (.5))
P.E./Health - 1 credit
Fine Arts or CTE - 1 credit
Electives - 6 credits
Total 22 credits
*Students must pass the Civics Test and CPR Requirements in order to graduate.
