Food Allergies and Diet Modifications
Diet Modifications
Dysart Nutrition Services will make reasonable substitutions to meals for children with a disability that restricts the child’s diet on a case by case basis and only when supported by a written statement (Diet Order Modification Form below) from a State licensed healthcare professional, such as a physician, who is authorized to write medical prescriptions under State law. Please see required documentation and additional USDA guidance below.
Food Allergies
Dysart School District cannot guarantee that food items or entrees served in the general lunch program are allergen-free but will make all reasonable attempts to accommodate and limit cross-contamination for students with life-threatening allergies. It is ultimately the responsibility of the parent to decide whether the student will buy the modified meal or pack a lunch from home. Common Allergens are identified for each entrée and are available for review on the Interactive Menu.
For Life-Threatening food allergies, meals from home are the safest alternative.
