23/24 School Year Information

Hello Asante Preparatory Families-

We are excited to begin the 2023-2024 school year.  This is going to be an amazing year for our growing school community!  We have had a busy summer preparing for the year.  We cannot wait to see everyone returning and to greet the new faces as well.

COMMUNICATION

We will communicate with you in several ways throughout the year to help keep you informed and involved in your child’s education. Through Infinite Campus Parent Portal, you will receive a weekly email update from the front office and  your child’s teacher(s) will also send a weekly email blast with important information and updates in the classroom.  This portal is also the way you can view updated information on your child’s grades.  We have attached directions to access the portal to this letter. We have  very valuable Academic Success Guides that explain the content for every grade at our school.  Make sure to view them on our website here.

SCHOOL ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL INFORMATION

At Asante Preparatory Academy, school begins at 8:15 a.m. and ends at 1:00 p.m.. on Mondays and 3:00 p.m. on Tuesdays through Fridays.  Students who arrive to school after the 8:15am bell will need to be signed in at the office. Students may NOT be on campus prior to 7:55 unless attending tutoring or other activity as there is no supervision. If you have appointments and need to have your child leave early, we request that you please pick your child up before 12:45 p.m. on Monday or 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday through Friday.  The last 15 minutes of the day can be rather hectic and a very busy time for the office, so please note there may be delays in being about to sign out your child.  Parents/Guardians will be asked to show ID before a child may leave. Attached to this you will find the letter outlining the arrival and dismissal procedures for Asante.  If you have questions, please do not hesitate to call our office.  Please  note that we are growing again and expect slightly longer dismissal times than last year, especially at the beginning of the year. It ALWAYS takes longer for the first couple of weeks.

CHROMEBOOK

All  students in K-8 will be assigned their own chromebooks.  At Meet the Teacher, your child’s chromebook will be issued to them when you sign the form.  You will then be assigned an optional $25 fee for insurance for the year that you can pay online in your Parent Portal.  This insurance will be available until August 30th.   If you do not get the insurance, you will be responsible to pay to fix the chromebook through our IT department  or to replace it at a cost of $400 should it not be repairable. If you do not attend Meet the Teacher, your child will be assigned their chromebook after you have returned the signed form. If your child has any outstanding fees on their account, they will not be assigned a Chromebook until those fees are paid.  Here is a link on where to pay fees and view them.

PARENT TEACHER ORGANIZATION (PTO)

Asante’s  PTO is one of the key components that make this a tremendous school! This dynamic group would really love your participation.  For more information, please visit them on Facebook at https://asantepto.org/ or you can email our president,  at asanteptopresident@gmail.com To join, simply click the link here.

MEET THE TEACHER NIGHT

Meet the Teacher Night is August 1 from 5:00-6:30 p.m.  On the night, you can come in through the cafeteria or the courtyard to find your child’s teacher posted.    You will also be able to view this in the Parent Portal two days before school starts. We will also have our PTO in there to learn more information about joining this important organization.  In addition, DEN Club and Southwest Food Services will be here as well.

STUDENT ATTIRE & SUPPLIES

Supplies and uniforms are not required, however, there is a suggested supply list by grade available on our website. When shopping for school clothes and planning for that perfect first day outfit, please keep our school dress code in mind. Student dress code

ASANTE  HOUSES Over the last few years our school has grown quite a bit, in order to help keep the small community last year we divided all of our students and staff into houses. .  The goals of the House System are to ensure that our large school has a small feel, to promote positive relationships and mentoring for students, to promote positive relationships between faculty and students, to give every student another caring adult, to instill a sense of pride in being an Asante Ranger.  New students will be divided into houses during the first days of school and will be a part of their house team for all their years at Asante. Returning students will continue in their houses.

Here are the houses:
