Volunteer in Dysart



  • Step 1:  Review the Volunteer Handbook and complete the application linked at the end of the handbook.
  • Step 2 The Volunteer and Compliance Specialist will schedule a time to complete your volunteer application, take your ID picture, record your fingerprints for background check, & complete the volunteer orientation.
  • Step 3: Wait on your fingerprint clearance / background check, takes approximately 6-10 weeks, plan accordingly. Fingerprint clearance must be renewed every 5 years.
  • Final Step:  Receive your official green volunteer badge.  Report to your site and you can get started!

FAQs

Do I need to do this if I'm just helping my PTA?  What about my childs before-after school program?  What about if I just want to help tutor students?  What about helping with our schools Marching Band? 

Any and all individuals that are volunteering to support any school, program or student(s) for more than a total of 5 hours must be an approved district volunteer and follow the above process.

What if I'm volunteering to coach a sport? 

You DO NOT complete the volunteer application.  All volunteer coaches must complete the online coach application, complete an interview by a school administrator, and follow the volunteer coaches hiring process through Dysart Schools Human Relations Department.

What if I'm just visiting a school? 

Individuals who are visiting a school do not need to be registered volunteers.  This would include parents who are visiting the school, but not volunteering.   All visitors must follow the school's visitor sign-in procedures.  Check with the front desk at each school site for more information. 

What if I'm chaperoning a field trip? 

Field trips that exceed 5 hours with students, including overnight field trips must follow the Volunteer Application process.  Please be advised, you must plan this well in advance as the fingerprint background check can take over 2 months.

What if I'm with a parent support organization like a PTO or Booster?

All Booster/PTO/PTA officers must be approved volunteers in the district.  Officers of Parent Organizations may refer to the Parent Support Organization page for additional information.  Please complete the appropriate application and associated documents if you are interested in volunteering.

What if I am a retired teacher or professional that wants to help students in a specific subject area like reading, writing, math, music, etc.,
