Jr. Thespians (Drama Club)
The purpose of this club is to engage students with all things theater! Students in 6-8 grade who are interested in participating as a cast or crew member in our school musicals would also enjoy joining this club! We will have meetings throughout the year to help improve our theater skills, engage in leadership opportunities and make new friends. Field trips and additional exposure to theater may be available throughout the school year.
School Musical Program
Under the direction of Mr. Badsgard and Mrs. Kaiser, Afterglow is Sunset Hills' elite choir group. This ensemble is comprised of students from 6th-8th grades who enjoy singing and want to extend their classroom choir learning, build confidence and lasting friendships through performance. Students are required to be enrolled in the Choir Elective during the school day in order to be a part of this group. Afterglow performs throughout the year at school and off campus concerts and throughout the community, when opportunities arise. For four years, this ensemble has been featured in performances in Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure Park in Anaheim, CA. Afterglow rehearses after school monthly from September through December, and weekly from January through May from 3:15 to 4:30 on Wednesdays.
Randall Badsgard and Shelia Kaiser
Under the direction of Mr. Badsgard, the Bobcat Singers are comprised of students in 4th and 5th grades who love to sing! No audition is required for this ensemble, only a commitment to the rehearsal schedule and performances. Being involved in this group will provide the necessary experience needed to join the Sunset Hills Chorus. The Bobcat Singers perform at school events throughout the year, and occasionally have the opportunity for community performances, as well.
Garden Club is designed to promote a love of gardening, nature, and the great outdoors as students plant, nurture, and harvest fruits and vegetables. Supplemental activities include STEM projects, cooking, arts and crafts, painting a community mural, and creating gardens at home! Our garden club is open to students in 1st through 8th grade and students must submit an application to attend.
Art Club allows our students to take their love of art further. Giving them time to practice and learn additional techniques and provide more chances to create.
