Arts Academy Overview
"A broad education in the arts helps give children a better understanding of their world.…We need students who are culturally literate as well as math and science literate."
-Paul Ostergard, Vice President, Citicorp
The West Point Arts Academy proudly serves students from all around the Dysart Unified School District. The belief is that the arts are conducive to powerful learning and that increasing the presence of the arts in all subjects will increase motivation, relevance, and achievement for students.
This school is unique in that students are a part of a creative community. Students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of in-depth art programs such as orchestra, band, art, music, graphic arts, and dance. Our students gain authentic learning experiences by participating in showcases, clubs, performances, exhibits, field trips, and personal choice projects.
Mission: The Dysart Arts Academy serves students at West Point Elementary School. The mission of this program is to provide an arts-enriched learning environment merging creative and academic content to enhance student achievement. Academy students will be required to take language arts, reading, mathematics, science, and social studies. In addition, the students will be afforded the opportunity to participate in arts elective courses each year. These courses may include band, orchestra, chorus, and media arts.
