Weekly Update for August 7, 2023
West Point had a great first two days of school. Monday marks the first full week, and students will begin their academic units. Teachers will be sending home a weekly email blast that includes what Arizona State Standards and topics your child will be learning and ways that you can help your child learn at home.
Student Pick Up
Signs Student Pick-up Signs were provided to every student. If you are picking up your child in front of the school, whether in the car loop or walking up, you MUST have this sign. The line moves much faster when all adults have their student pick-up sign. The signs are also necessary for safety reasons. On Monday, all K-8 parents will need their student pick-up sign.
Dress Code
Please remember that we have a student dress code in order to create a professional atmosphere for learning. Students should dress in a manner that considers the educational environment, safety, health, and welfare of oneself and others. Please review the dress code with your student(s) in the Student Handbook. We appreciate your partnership in this effort.

Weekly Updates for January 23, 2023
The new year is a great time to review our afternoon dismissal procedures. These procedures are in place to move traffic quickly and promote a safe exit. A full description of our arrival and dismissal procedures, with a map, can be found on our website here.
Parent Pick up-
Please only enter the parking lot through the far right lane. The center lane and left lanes are for traffic exiting campus only. Many cars are using the center lane to enter campus. Please follow all traffic rules to create a safe environment for our students, staff, and families. Also, students should not load cars waiting in line on Greenway road. Only kindergarten and preschool parents can walk up to the loading zone under the solar panels to pick up their students. All other parents who park will wait on the sidewalk across from the loading zone, and staff will cross their child at the designated crosswalk. Students will not be able to walk through the parking lot unattended. The far west parking lot is designated for bus and staff access only.
Walkers & Bike Riders:
-West Point neighborhood students will only exit campus through the three back satellite gates.

West Point supports troops with “Packages From Home”
West Point Elementary School, in partnership with Student Council, collected over 700 items for the Packages From Home organization which provides care and comfort packages to deployed American military personnel who are stationed on active duty around the world.
This annual effort began in 2010 with former West Point student, Jade Simpson. Jade’s birthday falls on September 11th, so she started this effort at her school as a way to give back and to commemorate the tragedy that occurred.
With Jade now in high school, the students and staff at West Point work hard each year to continue this effort of giving back to the troops. This year, teachers, staff, and several former students, held a “packing party” on the Saturday prior to September 11th, to sort and pack the items donated. Together, the group created 55 care packages to be sent to service members around the world. Students and staff also wrote letters and drew photos to be included in the care packages.
